"If you’re not growing, you’re dying”! For an entrepreneur, this statement couldn’t be truer.
As an Entrepreneur who has founded several companies, I thrive on growth and expansion. This passion requires me to focus on strong, competent leadership with clear focus on the vision at all times.
When I look back at how I managed to double the size of one company twice during an economical downturn, this was for a few different reasons. One was having build a strong reputation and brand which allowed the ability to raise capital.
From my experience, diversifying can be another excellent growth strategy. Broadening your product base allows for multiple revenue streams. This requires constant evaluation of target markets which enables you to determine how current markets are serving you and allows you to gain new perspective on additional markets for expansion.
Forming alliances with your stakeholders, suppliers and bankers are important components of growing a business, but the most critical component of growth and expansion is having a strong, dedicated and committed team who are all aligned to the vision. It takes a high-performance team to build any successful company. Steve Jobs said it best, ‘It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do, we hire smart people so they can tell us what to do.
Creating and continuing to cultivate a strong culture of inclusion, communication and transparency is paramount to the success of any organization. When your teams clearly understand their roles and responsibilities and have a high level of trust, they will engage in consistent collaboration and teamwork to achieve superior results. To achieve this, you MUST make culture a priority.
